Princess Kate has savage nickname for Prince William even though he uses very sweet one

Prince William has a cute nickname for his wife, whereas Princess Kate’s moniker for her husband appears to poke fun at him.

Prince William and Princess Kate have sweet nicknames for each other, just like most couples do.

The pair have been married for 12 years after meeting at St Andrews University in 2001.

And while they may act formally during royal engagements, it seems like they do loosen up behind closed doors.

Tom Quinn wrote in his new book, Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family, about how William has a very cute name for Kate.

The Prince of Wales reportedly sometimes calls his wife “babykins”.

But it looks like Kate’s nickname for her husband is more on the funny side.

She reportedly calls William “babe” and sometimes refers to him as “baldy”.

During the Chelsea Flower Show in 2016, the couple was also heard calling each other “darling” and “babe”.

William’s first nickname came from his mother, Princess Diana, who used to call him “Wombat”.

In 2009, the royal revealed in an NBC interview that his mother gave him the nickname when he was only two years old.

He said: “It began when I was two. I’ve been rightfully told because I can’t remember back that far.

“But when we went to Australia with our parents and the wombat, you know, that’s the local animal.

“So, I just basically got called that. Not because I look like a wombat, or maybe I do.”

His wife, Kate, also had a nickname whilst attending St Andrew’s prep school in Berkshire.

She once said: “I was nicknamed Squeak just like my guinea pig.

And whilst they both had nicknames as children, it’s only natural that they’d give nicknames to their own children too.

During a visit to Windsor Park stadium, Princess Kate revealed she called her daughter ‘Lottie’ instead of ‘Charlotte’ as she chatted to blogger Laura-Ann.

The blogger said: “So then she asked how old Bertie is, and I said he is four and she said, ‘Oh he’s the same age as Lottie’ – Charlotte, she calls her Lottie!”
