Prince Harry and Meghan ‘upset and confused’ over radio silence from William and Kate

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were “confused and upset” by Prince William and Princess Kate’s lack of contact after comments of “concern” surrounding Prince Archie’s skin colour were made by two royals, Omid Scobie claims in his new book Endgame.

He claims the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not speak with the Prince and Princes of Wales for two years, following their bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview in 2021 where they made the explosive allegations. The author wrote that a source close to the Sussexes said William and Kate’s radio silence on the matter “caused a lot of confusion and upset”.

The Sussexes have been estranged from the Royal Family ever since they quit their royal duties in early 2020. Since then they’ve unleashed a sensational spate of attacks against the Firm through a series of interviews, their Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan and Harry’s bombshell memoir, Spare.

But in 2021, during their Oprah Winfrey interview, they also sparked a race row with the Royal Family when they alleged a member of the Royal Family was concerned over the then-unborn Archie’s skin colour. At the time, Prince William commented on the incident, saying: “We’ve very much not a racist family.”

During a visit to a school in Stratford, the Prince of Wales was asked by a reporter: “Is the Royal Family a racist family, sir?”

William replied: “We’re very much not a racist family.” Asked whether he had spoken to Prince Harry since the Oprah interview, the royal responded: “No, I haven’t spoken to him yet but I will do.”

Now Omid Scobie claims in his new book Endgame that there was not one but two royals who made such comments. He wrote Meghan and King Charles exchanged letters in which the names of the two royals are revealed.

But the Dutch version published the two names and had to be taken off the shelves. Last night, Piers Morgan named the royals live on TV, adding he does not believe “any racist comments were ever made by any member of the Royal Family”.

Meanwhile, the Royal Family are said to be “considering all options” including legal action amid the race row. Palace aides have revealed that they are looking at how they should respond and every option is on the table. essonews24.com has chosen not to publish the names.

The author denied any responsibility and said the version he wrote in English did not contain any names.

He told Dutch chat show RTL Boulevard: “The book is in several languages, and unfortunately I do not speak Dutch. But if there are translation errors, I’m sure the publishers will have it under control. I wrote and edited the English version. There’s never been no version that I’ve produced that has names in it.”
