Prince William sparks fan frenzy as he dons Army uniform in Salisbury

Prince William visited Salisbury today

Prince William sparked fan frenzy after he was spotted wearing an Army uniform in Salisbury today.

The Prince of Wales, who is the Colonel-in-Chief, 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment, was visiting the Regiment for the first time at Salisbury Plain.

The royal paid the visit solo, without Kate, the Princess of Wales by his side.

Upon arriving, William was received by PLt Gen Ian Cave CB, Colonel of the Regiment, Lt Col Grant Brown, Commanding Officer and WO1 Glen Miller, Regimental Sergeant Major.

Shortly after his arrival, pictures began circulating on social media, with royal fans clearly distracted by one thing – how “dashing” Prince William looked in the uniform.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one royal fan wrote: “So dashing in his uniform!!”

Another fan, alongside a picture of the royal, wrote: “Prince William looks so fine in his uniform, I’m melting!”

A third account, alongside a host of pictures from the visit, wrote: “Prince William in uniform is [fire emoji]. Love that he was able to take part in the training with the soldiers. Some great moments coming out of it.”

Another account simply used the heart-eyed emoji to describe the new pictures of the Prince of Wales.

Dressed in the appropriate attire, Prince William got to travel with a crew inside a tank.

Alongside some pictures and videos of the Prince of Wales in action, The Daily Express’s royal correspondent wrote on X: “Warrior Prince.

“The Prince of Wales has climbed into a Warrior armoured fighting vehicle to watch the 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment taking part in an attack exercise on Salisbury Plain.”

The visit gave William the opportunity to have a firsthand introduction to the regiment, which he has never visited before.

Prince William also got to meet service personnel from different departments, as well as see the armoured infantry work that the regiment carries out.

His visit comes just three months after being appointed as Colonel-in-Chief of 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment by the King in August.

Since it was founded in 2007, the regiment has been deployed on more than ten operational tours.
